TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry will make efforts to address the concerns of some Hajj pilgrims regarding vaccine requirements introduced by Saudi Arabia, the ministry’s spokesman said.

Saeed Khatibzadeh

Saeed Khatibzadeh said efforts will be made via diplomatic channels in coordination with Saudi Arabia so that the concerns will be addressed.

He referred to the list of COVID-19 vaccines approved by the Arab country and said Iranian-made vaccines such as Barekat meet the highest health and hygiene standards.

Some of the Iranians set to make the Hajj trip have received vaccines made in Iran.

Saudi Arabia has announced that it will receive foreign pilgrims for Hajj this year after two years of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hajj pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia will need to have taken the (third) booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the kingdom.

Saudi Arabia says the Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Moderna (SpikeVax), AstraZeneca, Covishield, SK Bioscience, Vaxzevria, Jansen (Johnson & Johnson), and the Sputnik V vaccines meet fully-vaccinated travel requirements.
